Lesson 5: Complementary Colors

Complementary Colors – Colors opposite each other on the color wheel. A primary color and a secondary color. Red – Green, Blue – Orange, Yellow – Purple

Activities:

1. Abstract Circles: Pick two complementary colors. Pick one color and make small circles. Use the second color and make larger circle around the smaller ones. Fill the paper overlapping circles. Glue circles in place.

1. poster board
2. circle containers of different sizes to trace - ex. tape roll or paper cup
3. scissors (parent help may be needed)
4. glue
5. construction paper
6. red and green
7. yellow and purple
8. blue and orange
