Lesson 2: Primary Colors

The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. They are considered primary because they are the only colors you can’t make.

Primary colors are used to make all other colors. Mixing two primary colors creates a new color.

You can find the video lesson on my YouTube Channel Purple Lily Buds

Activities:

1.Primary Color Collage: On a white piece of poster board or card stock create a collage using red, yellow, and blue construction paper. Learners can cut or tear paper. Once they have torn or cut their paper, they can start gluing paper pieces onto white paper. They can overlap pieces or not. Give students creative freedom to make whatever they want in their way.

Supplies:

  1. poster board
  2. red, yellow, and blue construction paper
  3. scissors (optional)
  4. glue

2.Color wheel: Print color wheel and color the three sections in with red, yellow, and blue. Glue color wheel to a piece of paper board (cereal box) for stability.
